As President of Hotel Source, Inc., Steve's experience combines hotel brokerage, operations, management, and the sale and leasing of commercial real estate. He founded Hotel Source in 1996 to fulfill his vision of creating an innovative and uniquely focused company that would combine hotel industry-specific insight with superior real estate expertise.

Steve has represented institutional and private sellers, hotel companies, and owner-operators in the disposition of an array of hotels ranging in size from 40 to 375 rooms. He is particularly proficient at effectively marketing and consummating the sale of properties performing below their potential. In the process, he helps new owners reposition hotel assets to realize their full value.

Steve is a member of the International Society of Hospitality Consultants (ISHC), and prior to forming Hotel Source, Inc., he worked for the Chicago-based hospitality brokerage firm Hotel Partners, Inc. During his tenure there he contributed greatly to the company's growth and success, and was consistently a top sales producer.

As he worked his way up in the hospitality industry, Steve gained experience with Hyatt, Four Seasons, Fairmont, Sheraton, Holiday Inn, and independent hotels. In the process, he acquired valuable expertise by working in all operating and administrative departments — including front office, housekeeping, sales and marketing, human resources, food and beverage, and accounting. During his employment with Fairmont, Steve assisted in the opening of the 700-room Fairmont Hotel in Chicago, and helped develop and implement policies, procedures, and guidelines required for five-star standards. Steve has also gained experience working at several Chicago-area commercial real estate firms.

Steve received his Masters of Business Administration degree from DePaul University in Chicago, with a concentration in entrepreneurship and finance. While studying at DePaul, he participated in a Southeast Asia international business program, conducting research and traveling in Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Steve obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University's School of Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management and has studied at Ecole Hotelière in Lausanne, Switzerland, as well as at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

He has been a guest lecturer at Michigan State University, Kendall College, and Roosevelt University. Steve has also completed real estate coursework offered by New York University and hotel coursework offered by Cornell University. Steve is a graduate of Archeworks, an alternative design school focused on addressing social issues. In addition, Steve leads architectural walking tours with the Chicago Architecture Foundation, and volunteers with many local organizations.
